What I think Backspace is trying to say is, that you need to use more techniques that a house artists arsenals uses. Try some kick sidechaining the bass and leads. Maximize the master track for mastering to bring more power to your mix. Use some more compression on the drums. That is for the technical aspect. You are not a bad musician. Keep it up, and you will create great songs!

ForeverBound responds:

lol well the kicks are already compressed pretty hard also some sidechain might work but i like a bit of reverb like it is now more also i think i forgot something now u said about maximizing will try to do that as soon as possible

also thank u for the review

congratz with your song in 2nd place! Between you and me; I like this song more than the 1nd place. Now for the review:
I like the sound the library produces. The composition was awesome done. I like the twist you have done with the 1st melody and 2nd melody. "Painting" a song with a picture as a inspiration source is something I have to try one day. What kind of experience do you have with classical/orchestra music?

deadlyfishes responds:

I have a lot of experience growing up from a very strong compositional background. I began studying theory and orchestration while I was still in elementary school. I am still a student at a music college undertaking Film Scoring and Music Composition as my majors. I record a lot of my own orchestra music in recording studios for film projects for school and outside of school. I occasionally submit my compositions for readings where orchestras do a quick run through of your music, and sometimes I have my pieces featured in some concerts here and there. I am not just an orchestral buff though, I produce and compose many other styles as a game and film composer. You should check out my website sometime and see my other tracks. You might be surprised of all the many styles I am well-versed in. I think it's important for composers to try different things out once in a while. Knowing other styles really does give you an edge on other composers in the competitive music industry, so I think it is important for anyone going into the professional music industry to try to do those other genres. Anyways, sorry for all the rambling, I am glad you enjoyed it!

Jøss.
Nice piece:) what kind of library do you use?
It is hard to pull of good Arabic theme. I've heard too many fail to make any good ones. But you pulled it off with a cinematic twist. I suppose I just used to ethnic percussion to this kind of music. Cause I didn't expect you using this percussion. Overall very good, good luck in the contest :D
cheers

Emid responds:

Thanks a bunch for your input. I used EWSO, LASS and Best service Ethno world. Some free vsts' as well. Glad you enjoyed it but I am not participating in the contest.

As for your playing guitar: Good job
Arrangement: Awsome
Taste for music: nice!

But there are few other things.
Mixing:
You new to bring forth the other instruments in the mix. Maybe ease a little compression on the entire mix. Bring fourth the drums a bit. And add more high frequencies at the end would be a nice finishing touch.

And also the credit:
put the word "cover" in the title, so that people know right away that you are making a cover song. If someone uses this song in his or hers video, they have to credit you for the arrangement as well Killswitch for actually making the song

And one last thing. Make some own music, and you'd be scouted in no time! Keep on rockin dude!

Inspired by thee mau5 ?
I hear you made this slower than normally (128-130 bpm). That's cool. You should extend this to a song. Not many who listen to this kind of music, unfortunately. Take a listen to my tech house if you like! :)

K-POW responds:

Haha yeah, deadmau5 is a fucking genious. He's one of my all time favorite artists.

I kinda want to make this into a song, I do. But i'm working on some other songs currently so this won't be finished in a while unfortunately.

If i'm not mistaken the BPM is 112 - 114. (the pulse feels better when the bpm is around 100 bpm I think).

I surely will listen to your songs, since you spent your time listening to mine :)

Peace

Very good played, well put together and vocals are awesome :D But the mixing is the only thing you should work with. There is not much low end. That's why I give 9/10.

question: Do you have a higher quality version? If not, and if you're interested, PM me and I'll give you an sample to help your mix/mastering :)

SharedFate responds:

Hello Warhector!
Thank you for your review, we really appreciate it.
We know that this was not the best mix, but it was probably cause we wanted to get a 'real drumkit' and messed up the whole mix with that - that's a known issue : /
We usually master with iZotope's Ozone 5 cause it was pretty cheap and looked good for the first steps in mastering-business :)

I'll PM ya, thanks again for listening and reviewing.

Very interessting !

Nice riffs man! the guitar is synced with the drums nicely
But there is one element that should need attension. I noticed in ur previous songs and a little in this one that it missed the deep bass that goes with metal these days :P turn on a bass boost in ur deep kick drum and a little in the bass guitar :) it should not hurt to try :)) It have worked with me at least :) keep on rocking the guitar, these are perfect!

deathkllr84 responds:

hey thanks for the review man. I wouldn't say its so bad in this song, but you are right. I noticed in some of my newer songs when I played on a stereo that there was not much sub bass. WIll have to work on that, thanks a lot \m/

nice riffs :D

I really like the riff in 00:21 :D
what u can work on is the transitions to the riffs =)
but i think you be fine with this, since this is just a skecth of what you and your band have in mind :) you can deffenetly make this a full high quality recorded song :) work more with mixing and the transitios
keep up the work :D

FromWithinReach responds:

thanks bro :D

nice!

It was to hear from you again :D
This song is nice man! : )
check my stie, myspace and check my song there, need little help with the guitar mix, if you want u can give me some =D

deathkllr84 responds:

thanks. yep \m/

well i do not think you really played it : /

i can recognize that piano sound, i used to use it in some of my works in fruity loops, and could be as easy to just load up the pianos, and then import a midi file, which plays the notes perfectly, and i can hear the tempo is straight through the whole song. Which is almost impossible to do for pianists

alix1 responds:

I did play this. im soooo sorry im better at the piano than you. :P I dont use midis and why would i lie about playing fur elise? this song is easy. :P its one of the first i learned how to play.
